Ontario Unveils Marine Transportation Strategy

GSGP’s Leadership Summit featured the release of Ontario’s new Marine Transportation Strategy. Ontario Minister of Transportation Prabmeet Sarkaria unveiled this blueprint to grow the Province’s marine transportation network over the next 10 years. This Marine Strategy will help to bolster the regional maritime sector and economy.

In addition, GSGP released 2020 and 2021 Emissions Inventory data for Great Lakes St. Lawrence shipping. This inventory is part of the report, "Feasibility Study of Future Energy Options for Great Lakes Shipping,” which assesses the potential for alternative energy sources and propulsion systems to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of maritime operations within the region. Funded by the U.S. Maritime Administration, GSGP developed the study in partnership with the International Council on Clean Transportation, the American Bureau of Shipping and other regional stakeholders. The final report will be released in December 2023.
